'David Nash' Inspired Sculpture
We have recently been approached to produce a 'David Nash' Inspired Sculpture for a private garden.
David Nash is known for works in wood and shaping living trees. His large wood sculptures are sometimes carved or partially burned to produce blackening.
He is currently exhibiting at Kew Gardens, click the link for more info.
His main tools for these sculptures are a chainsaw and an axe to carve the wood and a blowtorch to char the wood.
Here are some preliminary designs made by the owner of the garden.
The sculpture will be made on an existing oak tree stump which stands 0ver 4 metres tall.
I will be using a chainsaw for most of the work and then possibly charring the whole thing to make a really bold piece of work.
Here are a few pictures showing the making of the sculpture.
